The CamTrak One is a completely new type of camera slider.
Combining the easy setup of a tripod with the rock solid smooth motion of a dolly and track system, the CT1 is the best of both worlds. Setup is as simple as connecting two of the super-light aluminum rails to two tripods, and then clipping on the slider using the quick release mount. This easy method of setup allows the system to be assembled by a single person in under a minute.
The 100% high-impact polymer frame has the advantage over aluminum of being dent resistant and extremely light. The modular construction allows replacement of individual parts virtually guaranteeing that even the most severe damage can be fixed completely with only a screwdriver. While most portable dolly systems are designed to operate either on a table or on rails, the CamTrak One is designed to do both. A spring-tensioned pivoting arm system allows the slider to be unclipped and put into table-top mode in a matter of seconds. This versatility makes the CT1 ideal for videographers who are constantly changing their setups to deal with changing scenes, or the cinematographer who doesn’t like to keep the crew waiting.

When flying to a shoot in a remote location, you might only have room in a single case to carry your equipment. While it might seem impossible to bring an entire CamTrak system, it actually won’t be necessary to bring the rails. The rails used have a standard 1″ diameter meaning that replacements of decent quality can be purchased at almost any hardware store or Home Depot. Just bring the slider and both tripod mounts, and then purchase an inexpensive set of rails on location for a fraction of the cost of shipping.
The CamTrak One uses high strength aluminum tubing for the dolly rails, as opposed to some systems that use inferior solid steel. Solid rails have the disadvantage of being very heavy while poorly resisting the bending force placed upon them by the slider. The hollow rods used by CamTrak puts the rail material where it is most needed – on the outside of the tube. By being smart about the types or rails we use, we have been able to make the CamTrak rails able to resist much higher bending loads than the solid rails of our competitors, at a fraction of the weight.
